Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a two-vehicle crash that shut down Route 441 in both directions at Linear Park Drive in Penfield.
Deputies say a westbound semi-trailer had pulled over when a van rear-ended the semi. The driver of the semi, a 49-year-old male from Orlando, Florida, was not injured.
The driver of the van was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital. Medical personnel say his injuries are non-life-threatening. Deputies say the driver is a 32-year-old man from Rochester.
The driver of the van was trapped for about 20 minutes while Penfield Fire crews used extrication equipment to get him out.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Police do not believe drugs nor alcohol were involved.
There were no passengers in either vehicle.
The driver of the van does not have life threatening injuries. He was issued a traffic citation for speed.
Deputies arrested the driver of the semi. He was cited for three infractions of the transportation law. His semi was removed by a heavy wrecker and taken out of service.
