URMC nurse sings with patient who underwent 3rd kidney surgery

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – A video was shared on Wednesday of a URMC nurse at Golisano Children’s Hospital singing with a teenage patient.

Nurse Lauren Thurber sang with 15-year-old Brianna Collichio on Tuesday.

Collichio her third kidney surgery. She suffers from Cystic Fibrosis. She will be auditioning on American Idol this season and posted this video on her TikTok account of her and Thurber’s duet.

Weather forecast: Snow overnight as winds ramp up

A massive storm system that brought snow, wind, and rain to much of the United States is now in the Northeast and we are watching the winds slowly start to pick up out of the west. That will allow for lake-effect snow showers to start to pick up overnight and into early Sunday morning. Those snow showers continue off and on Sunday with a westerly breeze gusting 20-30 mph. Temperatures climb to the middle 30s. A trace to an inch or so possible around Rochester, but higher amounts will be possible through Sunday afternoon across Genesee, Wyoming, and Wayne Counties up to two to three inches.

Round two comes Monday morning with a meandering lake-effect snow band that could bring another inch or two to Rochester and make morning travel difficult for those that work on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Otherwise it is a partly cloudy day with temperatures holding around 30°. Expect wind chills to be in the 20s. This may be enough for many to get the snowblower going again and it is likely there will be salt trucks running through the first part of the work week.

NYSP says man died after vehicle traveled down 30-foot cliff

BENNINGTON, N.Y. (WIVB)– New York State Police says Michael Colman, of Alden, died after his vehicle went down a 30-foot cliff in Wyoming County. Colman was 57 years old.

Troopers responded to the accident on January 15 at 2:41 p.m.

Gov. Cuomo gives update on vaccine distribution across NYS

ALBANY, N.Y. (WSYR) — On Saturday, New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo updated New Yorkers on the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine after the first four weeks of availability for non-long term care facilities.

New York State’s vaccine supply is determined by the federal government, and although more than seven million New Yorkers are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, next week, the state will receive only 250,000 doses from the federal government.
