UPDATE: The missing man has been identified as Shawn Ross, age 40, of Webster. He was last seen wading on a sandbar not far from the shore of Irondequoit Bay. Earlier, Ross had been on a pontoon boat with family and a friend. Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, West Webster Fire Department and Webster Police are all investigating.
UPDATE: Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputies and police are looking for a man who was last seen swimming in the Irondequoit Bay around 5:45pm.
Police describe the missing person as white man, in his 40s, and is a Webster resident.
Lieutenant Dean Tuthill, with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, says the victim was with friends, who were on a boat. Tuthill says the friends happened to look around and couldn’t find the victim.
Police say the victim and his friends were close to shore. Law enforcement personnel are exploring possibilities that the victim went to shore and is okay; however, police are using their own boats to look int the water, as well.
Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputies and police are currently investigating a developing incident in Irondequoit Bay near Webster.
We know that West Webster along with Ridge and Culver Fire Departments are on scene.
Deputies are supposed to talk to the media soon.
