UPDATE (3:20 p.m.): Greece police have charged Christopher Rivers Jr., 22, of Greece with reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession of a weapon. Police say the endangering charge is for Rivers firing a gun with a child in the apartment.
Officers say Rivers fired multiple shots out of his apartment window around 2:30 a.m.
He was taken into custody around 7 a.m. after a multi-hour standoff.
UPDATE(7:50 a.m.): Police now have one man in custody after a brief standoff at the Affinity Orchard Place apartments. Police say they responded to a 911 call with reports of a man with a shotgun, with other family members inside, including a child.
Police have apparently delt with this particular man before, and say they tend to get calls for the apartment complex often.
The area is now safe and classes at West Ridge Elementary have resumed.
UPDATE: Police were called shortly after 3 a.m. for reports of shots fired in the area. We’re told no one was injured. West Ridge Elementary is closed until the investigation is completed. Police have since reopened the closed roads for rush hour, but the investigation continues.
