UPDATE: Contractors injured after scaffolding breaks

UPDATE 9/20: Police have released the names of the roofers injured in Monday’s incident.

Jason Regatuso, 32, of Mount Morris is still listed in critical condition. Wade Remington, 40, of Pike and Justin Wager, 32, of Mount Morris have been discharged.

ORIGINAL: Rochester Police responded to Melville Street on Monday for a report of people who fell off a roof and were not breathing.

On responding, police say they discovered that contractors were replacing a roof with two ladders side by side supporting scaffolding. Four roofers were standing on the scaffolding when one of the ladders broke.

Police say one of the roofers was safe, but the other three fell off the scaffolding. All three were transported to Strong Hospital, where one victim is currently listed in critical condition.

OSHA officials also responded to the scene.
