Turkey giveaway benefits Rochester families in need

Local News

Three hundred fifty families in Rochester now have a little something extra to be thankful for this year.

On Tuesday, the City of Rochester held its annual turkey giveaway at First Genesis Baptist Church on Hudson Avenue.

Mayor Lovely Warren and a group of volunteers packed baskets with classic holiday food items donated by local businesses and organizations. The mayor said the event is a small example of the city’s togetherness.

“We know that people are struggling in our communities and even though we have great challenges, we also have a loving an compassionate community that cares about serving and helping the next person,” Mayor Warren said.

The giveaway was started in 2010.
