Trillium Health in Rochester will celebrate National Health Center Week with an open house and walk-in appointments Friday, August 12 from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Trillium Health President & CEO Andrea DeMeo and Director of Nursing and Care Management Mary Jones discussed the event Tuesday on News 8 at Sunrise.
Trillium Health’s slogan is “your neighborhood health center” and serves Rochester as one of 1,300 health centers across the country. “We’re in the middle of National Health Center Week, where communities across the country are celebrating the important work that community health centers do in terms of opening access, and ensuring that we address health disparities,” said DeMeo. At Trillium Health, we’re very, very excited that we just received designation as a Federally-Qualified Health Center.”
DeMeo said the designation is significant. “First and foremost, what it brings to our community is affordable care, where finances will never be a barrier,” she said. “We offer charity cases and a sliding fee, and our intent is to bring more individuals who are living in poverty and low-income into health, and provide good care for that. For Trillium Health, it means we can broadened our services. We’re focused on expanding women’s health and pediatric care, working with other community-based organizations in the health system to keep people out the hospital and keep people out of the emergency rooms.”
Jones said Friday’s open house is an opportunity for the community to engage with Trillium Health staff and providers. “We our opening the agency to the community to introduce — in some cases, reintroduce — our services and programs to the community,” she said. “On that day, we’re going to be offering free S-T-D and S-T-I screenings. We will have the ability to engage folks in insurance, if they don’t have health insurance.”
There will also be food, games, music and giveaways. Trillium Health is located a 259 Monroe Avenue in Rochester. For more information, visit the Trillium Health website, click here.
