Travelers fill ROC airport ahead of Thanksgiving

Local News

Plenty of people were at the Greater Rochester International Airport Wednesday morning as travelers headed home for the holidays.

Airport officials recommend travelers arrive at least 90 minutes ahead of their scheduled departure. This is especially true for early morning flights between 4:30 and 8 a.m.

The airport has seen delays due to the weather.

If you are traveling by car, New York state is helping to cut down on traffic by suspending all lane closures for road and bridge projects during the Thanksgiving weekend. Construction may continue for emergency projects. Otherwise, it won’t start again until Monday morning.

State police are also cracking down on impaired, distracted, and aggressive driving.

You can expect to see more police and more sobriety checkpoints on the roads.
