More than 30 volunteers from the group Save the Earth from A to Z (ASEZ) teamed up with the Rochester Fire Department and Department of Neighborhood and Business Development Services on Sunday for a street cleanup in Rochester.
The cleanup took place along Exchange Boulevard.
ASEZ volunteers from the World Mission Society Church of God helped make sure fire hydrants were clear of trash and debris so that firefighters have quick and easy access to them.
This part of the city’s “Adopt-a-Hydrant” program and ASEZ hopes to raise awareness about it so that residents can also partake in adopting a hydrant to keep Rochester clean.
Sunday’s cleanup took place from 10 a.m. until noon.
ASEZ volunteers will conduct street cleanups and clearing fire hydrants in New York City and Puerto Rico, as well.
