A third group of businesses have graduated from Rochester’s Business Opportunity Program.
The 18-week program is an instructional series that provides small, disadvantaged, minority and women-owned businesses in the community with the tools and information they need to grow and develop their business.
The group met twice a week to learn about business operations, bidding, law, construction and other topics.
“It was a little challenging to be here two days out of the week but just to know that I was able to do it and make it through is so huge,” said Sharon Benjamin, owner of Just Hair Boutique.
“We want to make sure that businesses located in the City of Rochester get the opportunity to grow and get the support that they need to grow and this program gives them that foundation to not only get started but to get their certification to get their business plan going,” said Mayor Lovely Warren.
The classes run through the Rochester Schools Modernization Program.
