Tonight was the last of three public forums on the police accountability board legislation.
The board used these forums as a way of outreach to learn what community members think and would want out of the proposed legislation. Each forum has had a high turn out and positive feedback.
“They’re very much interested,” said Loretta Scott, City Council President. “Their biggest concern has consistently been discipline and independence so it’s been consistent throughout. “
The legislation proposed would create a nine-member board. The board would have the ability to investigate
Complaints of excessive force involving Rochester police officers and enact any disciplinary actions.
The date to vote on the legislation has not been determined yet.
