Last September ranked among the top ten warm Septembers in Rochester weather history.
The average temperature for the month was 67.9°. So far, with nine days left to go, this September is averaging out to be warmer than even last September which ranked among Rochester’s top ten warm Septembers .
Here are the stats. Through yesterday’s date, the average temperature for the month was 69.4°. If the month were to end today, only one other September would be warmer: September of 1881!
Ironically enough, the warmest day of the week will arrive tomorrow, which is the first day of Fall. By the way, we welcome the new season with the autumnal equinox at 10:21 A.M. EDT.
Significantly cooler air will arrive this weekend but only for a limited time, which will leave room, thanks to yet another brief warm up, for the month to rank among at least the top 5 or top 10 warmest Septembers since records began in 1870.
