The Midtown Monorail will now be on display in the New York Museum of Transportation in Henrietta.
The monorail was a popular holiday tradition for many in Midtown Plaza from 1968 to Christmas Eve 2007. The city placed the monorail in storage following the demolition of the plaza, and that’s where the cars stayed until this past summer.
Over the summer the city agreed to place the cars on display in the New York Museum of Transportation.
Anyone looking to reminisce during the holiday season can visit the monorail on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The New York Museum of Transportation has the only trolley railroad in the state and features exhibits of trolley cars, a steam locomotive, horse-drawn and highway vehicles, and model trains.
The museum is located at 6393 East River Road, West Henrietta, NY.
