Testimony continues in the murder trial of Craig Rideout.
Rideout’s divorce attorney and an evidence technician who searched Rideout’s home the day his body was found both took the stand.
Rideout’s estranged wife Laura, their two sons Colin and Alex, and Laura’s boyfriend Paul Tucci are being tried together for his murder.
The divorce attorney says Laura filed for divorce in 2014. In the couple’s custody order, they were not to interact when meeting to exchange children. Craig’s divorce attorney also noted Laura was not to receive any financial support from Craig.
An evidence technician testified about finding a homemade garrote in Craig’s home, which prosecutors believe he was murdered with. The technician also testified about possible blood stains on three pieces of cardboard that were addressed to Craig.
“The prosecution is going to have the jury assume that is the murder weapon,” said Matthew Parrinello, Colin Rideout’s attorney. “We don’t know whether that’s the murder weapon or not. We just know it was found in the basement.”
Craig was murdered last July and his body was found on the side of a road in Yates County.
