It’s an opportunity to give back to educators this week, with NFL Super Bowl champion and Rochester native Roland Williams leading the charge to help more than 300 teens in poverty build healthier relationships with teachers.
Members of his Champion Academy extreme mentoring and empowerment initiative took the time Thursday to make small gift bags to be hand-delivered to school staff.
“The longer you live in life, no matter your profession, no matter where you’re from, the power of ‘thank you,’ the power of gratitude, goes a long way,” said Roland Williams, Founder and CEO of Champion Academy. “We hope to instill that in our students, in action with someone that spends an awful lot of time with them throughout the academic year.”
The gift bags contained lip balm, an assortment of candies and special notes from the students.
