A severe storm taking place Monday evening left trees and wires down and even started a fire.
The thunderstorm raced through the area but not before leaving a trail of damage. A tree fell on top of a house on Jones Avenue.
“I was sitting reading and I heard this huge, gigantic boom and I looked out the window and I saw that the tree had come down on my house” said homeowner, Wanda.
Over on Glide Street, there was more tree damage with a 50-year old pine falling between two neighbors backyards.
But that wasn’t the only damage on the street. Louise Nunn was alerted by her daughter that a large tree was blocking traffic in front of her house.
“She looked out the door and said mom, there’s this big tree down! And I got a little shook-up” said Nunn.
10 minutes away on Burley Road, eyewitnesses claim a lightning strike started a house fire. Deputies won’t confirm that’s the case but admit it’s a possibility.
“It’s kind of pointing that way. From the evidence of her reporting the boom, the issue with the circuit breaker, we’re still investigating but that’s definitely a good possibility” said Rochester Fire Department Deputy Chief, Felipe Hernandez.
