Matt Jones got the good assignment on Wednesday, and took to the sled hill at Ellison Park. He spoke with sledder Fred Detwiler.
Matt: “How was it out there?”
Fred: “Pretty wild!”
Matt: “Did you fall, or did you wipe out or anything?”
Fred: “I got pretty much a lot of snow in my face.”
Fred wasn’t the only one enjoying the snow!
Kids – and kids at heart – flocked to the sledding hill at Ellison Park, taking advantage of the nearly foot and a half of fresh powder.
Tanya and Nester Farmiga decided to delay their family vacation to New Jersey in order to enjoy some Rochester snow with the kids.
“There were a couple of people before us, and there were some trails from yesterday, but then they left, and we had it to ourselves for about 30 minutes,” they said.
Despite some good wipe outs, sledder Colin was up, and ready for another run.
“I like the most going on ramps and getting some air and then falling,” he said.
Yesterday’s winter storm caused headaches across the region, but the kids knew that it was time to have some old fashioned fun. With kids off school this week, the hill became more crowded by the minute, with people taking advantage of a perfect sledding day.
Sledder Marcus Lane, said the hill was “Very fast and very hard,” and that “The first time I fell, my whole hat fell off.”
“It was really great, even though there were a lot of wipe outs, I still enjoyed it,” Colin added.
Proof positive that Tuesday’s headache made for Wednesday’s fun at Ellison Park!
