Seven students have suffered injuries after a school bus was involved with a crash on Thursday afternoon in Macedon.
Police say that a car and small school bus from the Gananda School District collided on Route 31F around 3 p.m. The bus was shared with Palmyra-Macedon School District, and all the students were from private schools.
The driver of the car allegedly nodded off behind the wheel, crashing into the bus and causing it to flip over on its side. Police say the bus was making a turn and was about to drop some students off.
Students were assisted out of the bus through the back door and roof hatch, by witnesses who stopped to help.
The driver of the car has “significant” injuries. One student was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with a leg injury, and six other students suffered minor injuries and were released to their parents.
The bus driver was also transported to Strong. The Gananda superintendent tells us parents have been advised to take some of the students to the hospital themselves.
Route 31F is closed between West Walworth and Frey Roads while police investigate.
