When it comes to school expenses CPA Matt Bryant says there are several ways to budget smartly and save money.
Bryant discussed some strategies Monday during News 8 at Sunrise.
Buying in bulk is a good way to save on school costs – especially with some items for school lunches.
Compare prices from online retailers versus local stores for the best deal.
The back to school season is winding down, but many retailers have their most competitive pricing at this time of year, so consider the items you can purchase that might last throughout the school year in terms of school supplies and clothing or shoes. The upcoming Columbus Day Weekend and Thanksgiving sales could also yield savings.
When it comes to technology, like computers and phones for your student, there are great deals on computers on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. If you can wait until then, you can achieve a significant savings.
Sometimes with these larger purchase items, there are credit cards that may offer points or cash back on purchases. If you can pay off your credit card statement when it’s due, using a credit card on back to school purchases could also give you additional rewards.
