The chairman of the Rochester Broadway Theatre League seems confident that a performing arts center in downtown Rochester can still be built.
Speaking with News 8 Thursday, he also clarified reports that the project’s developer could be jettisoned. Right now, the developer’s company, Morgan Communities, is being investigated by the FBI.
Arnie Rothschild says he held a private meeting with other developers last week, simply to brief them on the situation – not to ask them to do anything.
Thursday, he told us that depending on how long the federal investigation takes, he made need to make changes to the plan.
“The second possibility is this thing takes a long time, in which case we may have to substitute with another developer, so we don’t control that timeline,” Rothschild explained.
Rothschild says Tom Golisano’s investment pledge for the performing arts center has not changed. The RBTL is waiting for the results of a city study before breaking ground.
Morgan Communities said they had no comment on the report.
