Roncone’s closing on Lyell Ave., chef planning move to Gates

ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) — An iconic Rochester Italian restaurant, that has been open for 80 years on Lyell Avenue, is closing as the chef plans a new restaurant.

Roncone’s is set to close its doors on this weekend.

In a Facebook post, the restaurant writes, “After 80 years of serving the Rochester community, Roncones Italian Restaurant at 232 Lyell Avenue, will be closing for good. Come in and celebrate the end of an era and the beginning of a new one!”

The operator tells News that chef Jimmy Paulino plans to open a new location in Gates at Lyell Avenue and Rt. 390 called “Paulino’s Restaurant.”

“Thank you for years of loyal support!” the Paulinos add.

The restaurant’s final days will be Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
