In just a few months, a Rochester woman will be taking the trip of a lifetime. But it’s not a vacation.
24-year-old Morgan Messenger will kickstart 2019 with a trip to Zambia, Cambodia, Ecuador and India. Through April, she’ll work with the International Volunteer Headquarters to teach English, provide special needs childcare and support community development. On Saturday, Jeremiah’s Tavern in Penfield hosted a fundraiser to support her selfless mission.
“I really just thought it was just this little idea that turned into this crazy thing and I’m just so thankful for all of the support,” said Messenger. “I look forward to letting everyone see how much their support has done for the communities around the world that need it most.”
Messenger tells us she first got the idea to help others in developing countries a few years ago. After taking her first trip to Cambodia and Zambia, she was hooked.

All of the proceeds will support volunteer placement fees and supplies.
