A 61-year-old Rochester woman’s horoscope indicated that she would win something big in the near future, and now she’s a million dollars richer.
Patricia Dioguardi, a Wegmans employee for 27 years, purchased a $5 New York Poker scratch-off ticket before starting her shift. She says she will retire one year early and then visit Las Vegas with her husband.
“I gave my boss my two weeks’ notice right after I scratched the ticket,” said Dioguardi. “I had planned on retiring next year, but this win moved up the date.”
The New York Lottery’s Yolanda Vega presented an over-sized prize check to Dioguardi at the Wegmans on East Ridge Road Wednesday afternoon.
Dioguardi says she is taking the one-time lump sum of $536,058.
