Rochester Regional Health shows off new solar farm in Parma

Local News

It may have been a bit cloudy, but we got a special tour Thursday of a new solar energy project in Parma.

Rochester Regional Health is using this to take a step in pursuit of health care sustainability. The group’s goal is to have 100 percent renewable electricity by 2025.

The group also hopes the solar farm will help make a difference.

“This about our commitment so we are thrilled to make it happen,” said Dr. Eric Bieber, Rochester Regional Health president and CEO. “It might have made a lot more sense to do this in July but it tells a great story for us all in our winter coats and our gloves on. It’s not very warm out but we are making electricity that is flowing into the grid today and that’s going to make a difference.”

The solar farm is comprised of nearly 17,000 panels covering 20 acres — which is the largest single-site solar farm in the RG&E service area.
