Rochester Regional Health offers new treatment for enlarged prostates

Local News

A new treatment for men suffering from enlarged prostate is being done right here in Rochester.

It’s called UroLift. Doctors at Rochester Regional Health can implant the device, which prevents obstruction from the bladder.

Typically, enlarged prostate is treated with medication or surgery.

“This new treatment called the UroLift is in between both,” said Dr. John Valvo, a urologist and director of Finger Lakes Urology Institute and robotics medical director for Rochester General Hospital. “So it adds a nice ability for men to have a minimum invasive procedure for an outstanding problem.”

Men who receive the UroLift implant can go home the same day as the procedure, and experience symptom relief in as early as two weeks.
