Rochester man suffers minor injuries after being ejected in car crash

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has reported that they responded to Rt. 490 Eastbound, west of the Route 531 exit for a one car motor vehicle accident.  

Deputies say the preliminary investigation shows a 1984 Chevrolet Camero operated by a 27-year-old man from Rochester, was traveling eastbound on Rt. 490 when he lost control of the vehicle.  

According to deputies, the vehicle left the roadway on the south side of the roadway, traveled down a ravine where it struck several trees. The operator of the vehicle was ejected from the vehicle.  

Deputies say he sustained non-life threatening injuries, including a small laceration to his forehead.  He was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for evaluation.  

According to deputies, the operator was issued traffic tickets for unsafe speed, and unsafe lane change.

Rt. 490(E), was reduced to two lanes of travel while emergency personnel worked at the scene.

Photos sent to News 8 by Jay Pelliccia show a vehicle was significantly damaged after going off the road on 490 near Route 531.

We’re told the driver was outside the vehicle when people pulled up to help. Thankfully, we’re told he is conscious.
