Rochester man charged with arson and burglary

Local News

The Rochester Arson Task Force has charged a Rochester man with Arson and Burglary for two separate incidents that occurred on March 31.

Ryan Farrell, 27, is accused of setting a fire inside an occupied apartment building at 236 Monroe Avenue.

Rochester Fire and Police departments responded to the report of a fire at approximately 3:36 a.m. The fire, which had been set on the carpeted exit stairwell, was extinguished by a tenant by the time crews arrived. Fire investigators determined the fire had been set with ignitable liquids and declared it arson.

The building was occupied by more than 15 apartments at the time of the fire, but no injuries or displacements were reported.

During the arson investigation, investigators were able to link Farrell to a burglary at the Half Pint Pub on Park Ave that occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m. that same morning. He is alleged to have broken into the pub and stolen numerous items.

Farrell is currently in the Monroe County Jail awaiting arraignment.
