On Tuesday night, the Rochester Latino Rotary Club hosted a free forum on opioids.
The event, called “Opioids In Our Community,” was held at the Heart and Soul Community Church on North Clinton Avenue. The forum featured Narcan training, a panel discussion and information about resources available in the community.
The bi-lingual event was used to address the issue not only in the suburbs but also throughout the Latino community.
Jazmin Ruiz is the President of the Rochester Latino Rotary Club.
“People tend to think of opioids as a problem that affects Caucasians and the suburbs and that’s where you find your largest percentage-wise, that’s where you find your largest problem, however in recent years it started to infiltrate the Latino community too and that’s were you find significate growth in these past few years,” said Ruiz.
