Rochester’s Flower City work camp is back to work this week.
Almost 800 students and more than 700 adult volunteers from 58 area churches will perform 30,000 hours of service.
Participants spend their spring break renovating 52 homes. They also host sports camps at local recreation centers and sidewalk clubs in town to entertain area kids who are home from school.
While the work is hard, the kids say it’s worth it to help those who need it.
“We love to do it,” said Weisbrod Elliot. “That’s why we’re here. It’s work and sometimes it’s hard and you have to do heavy lifting and painting and ruin some clothes but it’s good.”
The work camp is now in its 34th year.
