Thursday is expected to be a busy travel day. With Christmas on Sunday this year, many are getting a head start out the door in anticipation of the holiday weekend.
A storm in the Midwest could mean tricky travel for some– all while officials say the number of people visiting family and friends this year is going to break records.
The Greater Rochester International Airport was starting to get busy at 5 p.m. on Thursday, as people are started to leave for their vacations.
The lines aren’t too bad, but many people say they prepared ahead of time and made sure to show up at least an hour early.
We caught up with a few families heading out their destinations.
“Our flight’s about an hour and a half from now, so we got here an hour and a half early before the flight which is normal,” said traveler Justin Miller. “It’s about what we expected it to be. We go through the airport a lot. This is pretty normal.”
The Rochester Airport says they recommend you arrive about 90 minutes early, and if you’re going to drive here, have a parking plan.
