A group is working to improve racial understanding within our schools and our community.
The annual Roc2Change Summit was held at the Greece Central Performing Arts Center on Friday, with nearly 300 students from across the county participating.
This year’s summit was entirely planned by students.
Students discussed how to improve relationships with law enforcement, among other topics.
“It’s all about mentoring and one person can help another person,” said Greece Arcadia Senior, Derk Schrank. “And I guess in this event in the context of race, we can use that and those leadership skills to build others up so that they can take away with them something that can affect change.”
Students hope these conversations about race can be brought back to each individual’s high school in an effort to bring positive change to the community.
