ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC-TV) – The 8th annual ‘Roc the Peace’ festival kicked off today.
The event was started by a local mother who lost her son to violence back in 2007. Friends and family members of people lost to violence gather to settle difference and celebrate.
This year’s festival took place at Jones Square. The festival included free food, entertainment, and giveaways.
The founder, Sirena Cotton, said the festival is an ode to her son whose birthday would’ve been this weekend.
