Local leaders gathered at Monroe Community College Thursday to discuss the state of our children.

ROC the Future, a partnership of government and community organizations, released its sixth annual report on the well-being of children in the City of Rochester.

The mayor sent this message on the importance of this report to the conference.

“Parents, teachers, and community leaders must get  in tune and learn to play for the 21st century audience,” said said Sandra Simon, on behalf of the mayor. “At ROC the future, by dividing up into three teams: kindergarten readiness, early  grade literacy, and the high school graduation, we hope to tune our instruments, and to really look at kids from cradle to  career.”

The report has many recommendations on improving child development and academic success across Monroe County.
