A controversial plan to turn a former Catholic school in Irondequoit into apartments has been halted.
In July, Capstone Real Estate Development discussed its proposal of building 27 one bedroom, loft-style apartments. Constructing the building would have required the town to rezone the former St. Thomas Catholic School property on Colebrook Drive.
A large number of opponents showed up at packed public meetings this summer.
The feedback led the Irondequoit Town Board to unanimously vote against moving forward with rezoning the property for the apartments.
