A man who reportedly admitted to raping around 100 women, was arrested last week in Livingston County.
According to an Associated Press report, Melvin Alfred Carter was released from prison in California in 1994 after serving 12 years behind bars for an assault in 1982.
While Carter was only convicted of the single assault, during sentencing he admitted to raping about 100 women, according to an AP report from 1994.
Carter, who now lives in Leicester, was arrested on Friday after deputies say he failed to update his photo for the sex offender registry. Under law, sex offenders must submit a new photo with local law enforcement on a yearly basis.
Carter is being held by the Livingston County Sheriff due to his past convictions.
