Protesters carrying signs were ushered out of the state Democratic Convention as Governor Cuomo made his speech Thursday.
In a video posted to Twitter by reporter Morgan McKay, the group is seen carrying signs and chanting “end overdose deaths.”
The protesters were calling on Gov. Cuomo to support safe injection sites for the state.
Governor Cuomo was making his speech wrapping up this year’s convention after being nominated for a third term as governor.
Cuomo will face activist and actress Cynthia Nixon in a primary later this year. The governor also faces challenges from Republican Marc Molinaro, Libertarian Larry Sharpe, Green Party candidate Howie Hawkins and Reform Party Candidate and former Erie County Executive Joel Giambra.
