Preparations are underway for the 6th Annual Finger Lakes Cheese Festival.
Thousands of people – mostly foodies – are expected to show up at Sunset View Creamery in Odessa Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
It’s a chance to try a variety of cheeses from different farms – all the cheeses are artisan cheese that’s exclusively hand made on the farm or made exclusively with one farm’s milk.
The festival is organized by the members of the Finger Lakes Cheese Alliance who spent months planning and strategizing what cheeses to bring to the table.
Workers spent the past week packaging pounds and pounds of cheese leading up to the event.
Participants include: Crosswinds Farm & Dairy, East Hill Farm, Engelbert Farms, Heaven Scent Farm, Hemlock Ridge, Lively Run, Parulski Farms, Side Hill Acres Goat Farm, Scheffler Farm and Shtayburne Farm.
Admission is $5 per adult in advance or $8 at gate; kids under 12 get in for free. Paid attendees will receive a complimentary shopping bag.
Sunset View Creamery is at 4970 County Road 14 in Odessa.
