The mad dash is happening at Lifeline Auto in Rochester and owner Tin Tran says it happens every year. “That’s just when everyone wants to come in,” said Tran. “Always last minute.”
This year has been slow around the shop. Fewer drivers are looking for snow tires and Tran blames the weather. “It hasn’t been a normal winter. Usually there’s business every day.”
He is right. Last year at this time there was over 62” of snow recorded. This year only about 37”, a difference of over two feet.
Tran says people wait until the last minute to get their snow tires. “Anyone that can get away with not spending money, they’re paying their Christmas bills, whatever it is, they’re going to, and that’s just the human state.”
