Beginning Wednesday, the maintenance work will begin on the Patrick O’Rorke Bridge.
Work will be performed by a contractor for the Monroe County Department of Transportation, and is expected to wrap up Thursday. Work will be performed from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. both days.
Some lanes of traffic will be closed, but two-way traffic will be maintained during the repair work.
The work is in response to windstorm damage and includes the replacement of traffic barrier gates damaged by the recent windstorm.
In addition, the O’Rorke Bridge will undergo maintenance next week to address the mechanical issues that have caused frequent breakdowns in the past. That maintenance will be conducted from Monday, March 27, through Wednesday, March 29, and will be performed during the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
During these times, there will be multiple lifts of the bridge to the upright position. Two-way traffic will be maintained with frequent delays when the bridge is in the upright position.
