Police investigate shooting near Christmas tree giveaway in Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries Friday, after a shooting along North Clinton Avenue at Sullivan Street in the City of Rochester.

Officers were called to the area around 3:00 p.m. Police said a 26-year-old man was found on the scene with at least one gunshot wound.

The shooting happened while a Christmas tree giveaway was happening at the nearby International Plaza. The event was hosted by the Ibero-American Action League.

“It is a heartbreaking incident,” said Ibero-American Action League President and CEO Angelica Perez-Delgado. “We pray for the recovery of the victim. This unfortunate event serves as a reminder that we must press on with the important work Ibero leads in the neighborhood. We must not feel defeated, continue to work on public safety, and reclaim our neighbors.”
