Police identified body pulled from the Genesee River

Update:  Rochester Fire Department arrived to the scene around 4:45 pm where they confirmed a person in the water. The fire department worked in a joint recovery with the Rochester Police Department. 

Police said the body was identified as 51-year-old David McNeil of Rochester. 

The fire department used their hauling system with 2 firefighters in addition to 2 RPD officers from their scuba team. 

Due to a possibility of crime and it was a recovery RPD was involved. 

Original: First responders are working to a body from the Genesee River Thursday afternoon.

Crews responded to the river, just north of the Andrews Street Bridge, around 4:40 p.m. for the incident. Right now, the circumstances of the death are not known.

Crews from the fire department and police department are working the investigation.
