Perinton man arrested for illegal assault weapons

A Perinton man was arrested on Tuesday by New York State Police for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree. 

According to police, an investigation determined that Shawn Ridgeway, 34, had assembled two illegal assault weapons from parts he had purchased from licensed firearms dealers. During the course of the investigation,  it was also discovered that Ridgway had additional parts in his home, and others on order. 
Ridgway was arraigned in the Town of Perinton Court where he was remanded to the Monroe County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond.
