Penn Yan bar owner indicted in sex assault case

PENN YAN (WROC) - A grand jury has handed up an 11-count indictment against the bar owner in Penn Yan arrested after a video posted online purportedly showed him sexually assaulting an unconscious woman.

Bob Champlin, the owner of Lloyd's Limited Pub, was indicted on charges of criminal sex act, attempted rape, forcible touching, unlawfully dealing with a child and sex abuse.

Champlin was arrested in December after a video was posted on Snapchat showing the assault that happened on Christmas Eve.

The victim, Champlin's own cousin, was shocked when she saw the video circulating online.

"I just don't understand a lot from that night. I don't understand. I don't understand why he thought that was OK I don't understand why she videotaped it and didn't stop it or wake me up or something," said Brianna.

Brianna says the incident was captured on video by another woman who was present at the time, but didn't stop the attack.

Champlin was indicted last week and will appear in court on June 19 for arraignment.
