Open Door Mission issues Code Blue Alert ahead of cold temps on Thanksgiving

Local News

We’re expecting a very cold Thanksgiving Thursday, but the Open Door Mission is prepared to provide shelter and a feast to all who need it.

Even with all their beds full already, the Open Door Mission says they have decided to not put a hard number on their Code Blue Alert.

“We started Code Blue many years ago to basically offer an opportunity to flex our space and restrictions to be able to accommodate people who are seeking shelter from inclement weather,” said Anna Valeria-Iseman, executive director.

Normally, Open Door Mission can fit 48 people, but with Code Blue they can use cots to double that number.
