The local group ‘One Soldier at a Time’ put together care packages for soldiers serving overseas on Sunday.
The packages consist of everything from sunscreen to snacks, candy, playing cards and Frisbees.
The goodies go to soldiers in Afghanistan, Germany and Korea.
175 of these care packages were assembled today at the home of Lauren Coe, who created the organization.
“We figure there are so many things that they don’t have that they need and I’m so excited that we’ve got all these great ladies here and companies represented that wanted to stand in the gap and help our military out,” said Coe.
She says the at the start the group helped 22 families. That eventually grew to 155 families, but because of funding they were only able to adopt 80 families this past year.
Coe says many people would like to help the cause, but they don’t know how. If you would like to help out you can contact One Soldier at a Time at 585-764-4550.
Donations for the packages came from Suzanne Daly of Financial Partners of Upstate NY, GMR Associates, Michelle Lebel Agency, Lisa Tamilia Agency and Sandie Micha Company. Representatives from these local businesses and volunteers from the Walworth Second Baptist Church helped assemble the packages.
