On February 20th, 1963, protesters staged a sit-in at Rochester Police Headquarters.
Angry that the police chief cleared four RPD officers of beating an African American suspect without ever making his investigation public, they demanded the city set up a *citizens* revew board to investigate charges of alleged police misconduct.

Fifty years ago this week the News 8 crew checked in at Batavia Downs in advance of the opening of spring harness racing season.  The racetrack was prepping for the earliest inaugural in the history of Western New York racing.  In 1969, 700 horses were stabled on the grounds.

45 years ago this week News 8 went inside the central post office on Cumberland Drive in Rochester.
This week in 1974  it sure was busy,  but just three years later the main post office was moved to Jefferson Road in Henrietta.
