ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - E-bikes, short for electric bicycles, are growing in popularity all over the country including in New York.
Wednesday afternoon, the New York Bicycling Coalition held a demonstration to allow people to become more familiar with e-bikes.
The event comes just as new legislation is being introduced that could legalize class one e-bikes across the state.
A class one electric bicycle has fully operable pedals and an electric motor of fewer than 750 watts. The motor only works when the rider is pedaling and stops when the bike reaches 20 miles per hour.
