New green roofs at downtown campus

Local News

Four green roofs have been installed at the Monroe Community College’s Downtown Campus.

The new green roof system is able to capture 13,000 gallons of rainwater, and is made up of a layering of sedum blend and succulent plants.

The college aims to reduce storm water pollution, as well as reduce electricity usage needed to cool and heat the campus.

Professors at the college also plan on incorporating the green roof into their lesson plans.
