Comedy @ the Carlson preps for grand opening
One of the minds behind Comix Cafe and the Comedy Club in Webster is on to a new venture. It’s called Comedy @ the Carlson, inside the Stromburg-Carlson building in Rochester’s North Winton Village.
Located next to the new, and wildly popular, Radio Social, owner Mark Ippolito said he’s looking forward to be a part of an ‘A-list’ comedy scene in Rochester.
“[The] North Winton area right now is just awesome. Great neighborhood, very safe. A lot of young people living up here. A lot of thriving businesses around here right now,” said Ippolito.
The venue’s held shows during its soft-opening over the last few weeks, but plans to officially open July 14th when comedian Mike Birbiglia comes to town.
Wood Kettle Brewing to open in Greece
Another brewery is getting ready to open up shop, and it will be the first of its kind in the Town of Greece.
Wood Kettle Brewing co-owner Bill Allen says the 5,200 square foot facility on Manitou Road has been a year in the making, and right now he and his brewing partner are working on developing different types of beer for their opening.
“I’ve been brewing since the 80’s and my partner, Mark, has been brewing since the early 90’s, so we’ve both got a ton of years in. And it’s really more of a hobby, so we decided…We’re old, time to retire. Let’s do something for fun!” said Allen.
Wood Kettle, aptly named for its wooden-clad beer tanks, is also working on a food menu. Allen hopes to be open in late August or early September once enough beer is brewed and ready to serve.
