Neighborworks Rochester program helps make home ownership possible

Local News

A homebuyer assistance program through Neighborworks Rochester is making it possible for more people in Monroe and Erie Counties to buy their first home.

It’s called Project Reinvest: Homeownership and it allows eligible buyers to receive $10,500 in down payment assistance.

“The reason it can be very important to create homeowners, especially low and moderate income homeowners, is that we know it’s a lot more affordable in Western New York to own a home than to rent,” said Laura Sweat, COO of Neighborworks Community Partners. “So it’s an investment that people are making so that they can build wealth.”

The project is a zero-percent interest deferred grant. If you’re interested, there will be another orientation event on Wednesday, November 1 at Neighborworks on South Avenue.
